What a hero! 👏
Weston Halsne, a fifth-grader at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minn., told reporters that his friend saved his life when a shooter opened fire during Mass
“I think I got gunpowder on my neck,” he said. “I was like two seats away from the stained-glass windows, so the shots were like right next to me.
Halsne says that when he first heard the shots, he asked himself, “What was that?” He then “ran under the pew” and covered his head. He then revealed how his friend saved his life:
“My friend Victor saved me, though, because he laid on top of me. But he got hit,” Halsne said.
“My friend was lying on top of me, making sure I was safe, and he got hit.”
“What do you want to say to your friend who helped protect you?” the reporter asked.
“He’s really brave, and I hope he’s good in the hospital,” Halsne responded.
The interview concluded with Halsne saying he hopes everyone in the hospital is “okay,” and he’s “praying for” them.
