The Louisiana State Police is seeking public assistance regarding the hit-and-run death of a 53-year-old Jennings woman who had been reported missing by her family. The victim, Bonnie Fontenot, was struck by a vehicle traveling on the I-10 Frontage Road, just east of U.S. 165 in Jeff Davis Parish, between Aug. 22 and Aug. 27, according to State Police spokeswoman Peggy Bourque. Fontenot sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a green or turquoise pickup truck with possible damage to the front end or driver’s side. The vehicle may be frequently seen in the Iowa area or along U.S. 165 in Jeff Davis Parish.
Fontenot was discovered deceased on Aug. 27 in the median between Interstate 10 and Frontage Road, just east of U.S. 165 near mile marker 44. She was last seen on the night of Aug. 22 at the Lost Shoes RV Park on U.S. 90 east in Lacassine. Her family reported her missing the following day after they were unable to contact her. She had reportedly sent a text message to someone earlier that night and was seen at a local convenience store.
